Why I skipped “The Hunger Games” at midnight…

24 Mar

Like many of you I have been waiting for “The Hunger Games” movie to be released for quite some time. Once tickets went on sale in February I practically stalked the group of friends I had been planning to go with until they decided which theater they wanted to go to, and a few weeks ago we finally purchased our tickets for the 12:07am showing on Thursday night at one of our favorite theaters in the city.

Then, last week while seeing “21 Jump Street“, we found out we could switch our tickets to be seen in a theater called ‘The Capitol‘ and so we did. Seeing the movie not only at midnight but also in ‘The Capitol‘ had us all walking on air with excitement. I mean, how could it get better than that?! Unless Josh Hutcherson was going to show up and escort me to my seat and share his snacks with me, I don’t think it possibly could.

Then I remembered: My brother’s concert! I promised my brother last year when I missed his high schools Battle of the Bands that I would be there this year. Not only because I had missed him and his band One Night Only winning last year, but also because it was his senior year and I knew how important it would be to him. Plus, I hadn’t seen him perform live yet so I felt I was missing out on a huge part of his adolescence.

It went without saying that my brother’s concert came first and foremost, especially over a movie no matter how much I was looking forward to it, and so I took an overnight trip to New Jersey to watch One Night Only rock out. They performed “Slither” by Velvet Revolver, “My Sacrifice” by Creed, “When I’m Gone” by 3 Doors Down, “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence, and they closed with “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. It. Was. Amazing.

Oh, and the best part? THEY WON!

So while you were all enjoying “The Hunger Games” during it’s midnight release I was spending some Q.T. with my not-so-little brother and his band while they kicked ass and took names at Battle of the Bands. Below is a video I took of their closing performance “Born to Run” for you to check out!

P.S.: For those of you wondering…. I’ve already seen “The Hunger Games” twice.

Throwback Thursday: 2009′s Compilation Video!

22 Dec

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Throwback Thursday, I know… please forgive my slacking! As the year comes to a close and I am putting together my top moments of 2011 (coming the week after Christmas!!) I decided to share this video I made at the end of 2009. It’s a compilation of video I took throughout the year on sets, at events, concerts, and just goofing off with my homie:

In order of appearance:

Penn Badgley, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Leighton Meester & Blake Lively, Jackson Rathbone, Pete Wentz, Kobe Bryant, Hanson, The Edge (U2!), Bobby Long, Charlie Bewley & Daniel Cudmore, Peter Facinelli, Robert Downey Jr., Donnie Wahlberg, Kenan Thompson, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Hanson, Kristen Stewart, Mark Wahlberg & Will Ferrell, Taylor Lautner (x2), Mark Wahlberg, Rachel McAdams, Edi Gathegi, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Schwartzman, Jude Law, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz, & Kristen Stewart.

PHEW. That was a mouthful. And yes, all footage in this video was taken by yours truly. I also chopped it all up and edited it into this amateur YouTube masterpiece. However I can’t take credit for the soundtrack, that’s all Lady Gaga’s doing. Thanks Mother Monster for creating the #1 fan girl anthem!

Demi Lovato @ Hammerstein Ballroom!

18 Sep

Last night Carly, Christina, Alex & I went to see Demi Lovato perform her solo “comeback” concert at Hammerstein Ballroom and it was unbelievable. I have always enjoyed her music and have always known she was the single most talented “Disney star” that has existed since Justin Timberlake, but she completely blew me away last night. Not only did she sing her ass off, she danced her ass off, and she also played guitar and piano. It’s a rare find to attend a live concert that is so authentic and filled with talent – especially with a solo act. I honest to God wish that Demi Lovato had existed when I was a 15/16 year old girl because my generation didn’t have anyone as talented or inspirational to look up to as Demi Lovato – especially those of use who battled the same issues that Demi has.

For some reason every single picture I took of Demi last night came out blurry so I’m only uploading a few from when she was up on the soundbooth during “Remember December”. The video I’m posting is a compilation of all the video I took last night including La La Land, Skyscraper, and Demi covering Lil Wayne’s How to Love. Enjoy!

Fashion’s Night Out @ Saks Fifth Avenue!

9 Sep

After stopping at Forever 21 and hanging with Christian Serratos, our next stop of the night was Saks Fifth Avenue! Earlier that morning we stopped at the store to pick up wristbands so we could enjoy the Joe Jonas performance on the 7th floor in the menswear department. Designer Simon Spurr introduced Joe Jonas (who not so coincidentally was dressed in head to toe Simon Spurr) for a three song set that included “Love Slayer”, his next single “Just in Love”, and the first single “See No More.” It was the first time I was seeing Joe perform solo and he was really great! I had a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to seeing his full show when he hits Best Buy Theater in October.

Taylor Swift & Justin Bieber perform “Baby”… TOGETHER.

24 Aug

OH MY GOD. THERE ARE NO WORDS. Los Angeles, do you know how lucky you are?! I would have paid obscene amounts of money to see this live.

He even raps! And he brought his own dancers! I cannot!

(Thanks to my girl Melinda for the heads up on this! Apparently I was in a coma last night and missed it.)

My last night with the Backstreet Boys…

8 Aug

I spent the better part of this summer at NKOTBSB shows all over the country: Boston, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Hershey Park, and last but certainly not least, New York! Thanks to my friend June I was able to go to not one but TWO Backstreet Boy sound checks which also includes a quick meet and greet with a picture which was the best possible way to end our slew of concerts. I’m a die-hard NKOTB fan but I grew up in the era of BSB and both understand and appreciate the hype – plus they put on a damn good show, too!

Included in the pictures are our group picture with the guys, a quick shot of Nick and AJ reading the lyrics to “Poster Girl” while performing it for us during sound check, and a shot of AJ signing autographs before the show.

I will never forget the summer of NKOTBSB!
