NYFW: Joan Rivers at Badgley Mischka!

21 Feb

As you saw on my NextMovie column last week I had the pleasure of meeting legendary comedienne Joan Rivers at the Badgley Mischka show during NYFW. Not only did I get the chance to meet her but I got to watch her in full ‘Fashion Police’ action outside of the tents as she talked to innocent bystanders and did some major hamming for the waiting paparazzi. I have to say that it was a total honor being in her presence and watching her work her hilarious magic on the street.

If you haven’t seen her documentary ‘Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work‘ please do so IMMEDIATELY. Not only is it very funny but it is also an eye-opening look into the real world of fame and fortune, as well as showing us all a very human side of Joan.

NYFW: Taylor Momsen at Marchesa!

20 Feb

One of my favorite shows to hit up during NYFW is Marchesa because so many young up-and-comers like to rock their dresses on the red carpet throughout awards season. The Marchesa show is held at The Plaza every year so therefore the crowd is always a little overgrown thanks to the tourists, but once the arrival rush is over and the crowd dies down I usually don’t mind waiting it out until departures.

This year the guest list was a little pale, but there were still some fun Fashion Week sightings like Rachel Zoe, Brad Goreski, and Nina Garcia. There was also the amazon-like Stacy Keibler (unfortunately she was George Clooney-less), and Mrs. Jenna Dewan-Tatum who I included in my NextMovie column last week!

My favorite guest of the show however was former ‘Gossip Girl‘ star Taylor Momsen who can occasionally look a little scary, but the night of the Marchesa show she looked phenomenal! On her way out of The Plaza she stopped for a few pictures but since it was so crowded I waited for her near her car in hopes of getting a picture with her, and I definitely lucked out! When I asked for the picture she said, “Okay, last one!” I imagine she was pretty cold in that lace dress, plus we were kind-of/sort-of in the middle of the street in front of The Plaza, but I was really glad to get the picture! Not only do I love her band, but she is also the last of the original main ‘Gossip Girl‘ cast that I hadn’t met. I now officially have pictures with all of them!

Here is Taylor Momsen‘s band “The Pretty Reckless” in their new music video for “You“. “The Pretty Reckless” will be opening for Marilyn Manson on his upcoming Spring tour. Congrats Taylor!

NEXTMOVIE: Is Fashion Week the New Oscars of Celeb Sightings?

19 Feb

This weeks NextMovie column features a recap of my Fashion Week encounters including: Joan Rivers, Viola Davis, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and Norman Reedus!

I would have posted this sooner… but I’ve been in a post-NYFW coma.

NYFW: Gabe Saporta at Tommy Hilfiger!

13 Feb

While Fashion Week went full steam ahead last week I have been taking the time to pick and choose carefully which shows I hit up for sightings. If I’ve learned anything from the past couple of Fashion Week’s I’ve been around, it’s that every day is a hit or a miss. It’s a rare occasion you can actually predict who will be at what show, and even if you can it’s usually only one person you can peg. Not to mention the weather here in New York has been pretty brutal, so I would rather be selective enough that I don’t come out of NYFW with pneumonia or the flu.

One of the shows that is usually pretty good for a celebrity guest or two is Tommy Hilfiger. In September I got to meet Kellan Lutz and Ed Westwick, as well as see James Marsden on his way out. When I heard the Tommy Hilfiger show was Friday evening up at the Lexington Armory I took the ride up there with fingers crossed and my camera ready to go. There were quite a few people waiting at the front entrance so I joined them, but it turned out all the  VIP’s were arriving at the back entrance none of us knew existed. By the time we made our way back there everyone was inside and the show had started, so all we could do was wait.

When the show was over Bradley Cooper was the first to leave, though he only took one picture with a fan before getting in his car to leave. In his defense there were quite a few people waiting at the back entrance by this point and zero security or barricades which makes for an unsafe and usually not-so-fun situation. Next up was Kellan Lutz who, as always, took a few pictures before leaving, followed by Cobra Starship‘s Gabe Saporta. Since I hadn’t gotten to meet Bradley and didn’t even attempt Kellan since I had already met him last week, I jumped at the chance to meet Gabe. Thankfully we have a mutual friend and if it hadn’t been for Brian being there I may not have gotten this picture. Praise Brian’s light!

Victor Cruz had also been in attendance but didn’t bother stopping for anyone on his way out. I do have to say, he’s very handsome in person!

amFAR Gala Extras: Cindy Crawford & Gloria Estefan!

10 Feb

As you may have read on my NextMovie column yesterday I had an AWESOME time at the amFAR Gala Wednesday night! Among the guests I saw were Cindy Crawford and Gloria Estefan, two people I still cannot believe I got to take pictures with. Sometimes I get real stutter-y over celebrities that I love (like Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz), but other times I am in pure awe over the caliber of the person standing in front of me. That’s how I felt last night in the presence of Cindy Crawford and Gloria Estefan.

It should be noted that the first words out of my mouth when I saw Cindy Crawford for the first time were that she looks as incredible as she did twenty years ago. Genetics or plastic surgery, I’ll never know, but either way I hope I’m that lucky! Also, Gloria Estefan was very excited to meet fans and completely disregarded her security guard who kept trying to get her to stop and leave.

NYFW: Jessica Szohr @ Marchesa party!

14 Sep

As Fashion Week slowly draws to a close it seems like the party scene is picking up more and more every day. Last night the Marchesa party was held at the Dream Downtown’s rooftop bar/lounge “PH-D” next to Maritime. While there were some super cool people in attendance like Rachel Zoe, Emma Roberts, Chord Overstreet, Jared Eng, Camilla Belle, Nicky Hilton and Eve, the only one I met properly was ‘Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr. I have to say that for my least favorite character on the show she happened to be the nicest actress I’ve met in a long time. Also, I’ve always really loved her style, and she’s just as beautiful in person as I imagined.

After the event at PH-D ended everyone moved downstairs to the new Electric Room. I haven’t been there yet but it seems to be the new “hotspot” in the city. Hmm, maybe soon…

NYFW: Mandy Moore & Whitney Port candids!

12 Sep

While quite a handful of celebrities attending shows on Saturday evening were willing to stop and chat and take some pictures, unfortunately not everyone is so excited to do so. Usually reality stars are the most excited to get the attention of fans but Whitney Port is not one of them at all. A lot of other fans who were waiting were talking about how rude she was and how she wouldn’t stop. When she arrived and departed for one show she told everyone she was running late and would do it on the way out and never did. When she came back after a quick-change she didn’t stop again on her way in after stopping for the paparazzi, and then on her way out she very reluctantly stopped for a handful of young fans. I didn’t watch her show so I wasn’t really upset that she didn’t stop for me when I asked her to.

Mandy Moore arrived for the Monique Lhuillier show and holy crap is she tall. I don’t think I had ever seen her in person before but she is undoubtedly a giant – especially when wearing heels! Mandy only stopped for one person on her way in and I had already left by the time she came back out and stopped for more fans, but she seemed really nice when she was on her way in and did promise to do it on her way out – I just needed to go eat after being there for a couple of hours already. I’m sorry that I missed my chance but hopefully I will see her again some day!

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian arrived together for the Monique Lhuillier show and looked gorgeous together. They make a very beautiful couple and they also seem very happy together – they were holding hands or had their arms around each other the whole time. Though they did take the time to stop for a couple of fans I was not one of them, but I got this great shot of them posing for the paparazzi below.

Overall it was a pretty exciting Saturday at the tents!

NYFW: Monique Lhuillier!

12 Sep

The Monique Lhullier show was also Saturday evening and in true NYFW fashion (pun totally intended) it was also filled with a bevy of awesome guests! Most people know Monique Lhuillier as a wedding dress designer, much like Vera Wang, so it’s nice to see her getting recognition as a designer outside of the wedding dress circuit. Joanna Garcia (top left) is a beautiful actress who I actually met for the first time a couple months back at the ‘Bad Teacher’ premiere after party. Though as an avid Yankees fan I know her best as Swisher’s wife! Rose McGowan (top right) has been around as long as I could remember and is just as stunning in person as you would imagine. I have been a fan of Jamie-Lynn Sigler‘s (bottom left) since she was on HBO’s ‘The Sopranos’ which is what she’s best known for. I was really thrilled to meet her because when I was in high school I wanted to be no one else other than Meadow Soprano – and trust me, I tried real hard. Unfortunately my father was not a mafia boss and I was just an Irish girl with some Italian in her from her moms side, so it didn’t really pan out in my favor. I almost didn’t recognize Julianne Hough (bottom right) because as of recent I’ve only seen her as a brunette in the ‘Footlose’ trailer. I told her I was really excited for the film in a moment of excitement after she posed for a photo, but I have to tell you guys that that was a bold face lie… I am not excited. I’m actually sort of insulted at the idea that they thought they could re-make such an incredible and iconic film and modernize it in anyway. I’m sorry I lied to you, Julianne!

NYFW: Kelly Osbourne, Bam Margera, & Julia Jones @ Charlotte Ronson!

12 Sep

One of the first guest to arrive at Charlotte Ronson’s show on Saturday after her sister Samantha was Kelly Osbourne. I have to say that I was honestly surprised at how sweet she was. Kelly is known as a very outspoken and opinionated young woman and, from my personal experience, those are usually not the nicest people you’ll ever meet. It was refreshing to meet someone who could be both ends of the spectrum.

Um, totally unrelated, but… does anyone know where I can score those sunglasses? Because I’m in love.

When Bam Margera arrived to the tents on Saturday afternoon I can tell you that my inner 15 year girl made a HUGE comeback. I remember when ‘Jackass’ first aired on MTV and how unbelievably stupid I thought those guys were. I also remember thinking that they were hilarious, and that they were hot. I honestly never thought I would meet any of them but the fact that the first of them I’ve gotten to meet was Bam himself is pretty incredible. Bam, just like Kelly, was really sweet and seemed pretty excited that he had fans around too. And as a fan, I have to say it was nice to see him smiling again after everything that happened with Ryan Dunn.

Last Thursday after attending the ‘Contagion’ premiere I found out that Julia Jones had also been in attendance and I have to say, I was pretty bummed that I didn’t even know she had been there. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a bit of a ‘Twilight’ fan. It’s something I tend to at least attempt to keep under wraps but one look through most of my pictures and it becomes sort of obvious. When June spotted Julia leaving the Charlotte Ronson show we both called her over at the exact same time after she had already walked passed us quite a bit and I was really happy that she came back to us! I think we may have startled her because I don’t think she expected anyone to notice her, but I was very glad we did and she was very excited to chat with us and take pictures. I’m also very happy to have another addition to my collection of Wolfpack pictures!
