The time is finally upon us, US Directioners! One Direction’s “Up All Night” was released here in the states as of midnight last night and is currently holding steady at the #1 spot on iTunes. Actually, to be more specific, the #1 spot on iTunes is the deluxe version, and the #2 spot is the regular version. Basically One Direction owns the world right now!
A friend of mine got a tip that the boys would be visiting fans lined up at the Today Show on Sunday morning, so after picking up our wristbands at the Sunrise Mall that morning and realizing we had enough time to make it back to the city we did just that. One Direction showed up just a little after 12 noon with snacks for everyone who had been waiting on line and even signed some autographs and took some pictures. All of the fans at the Today Show were extremely well behaved as well which just goes to show you that when you listen to authority, stay behind the barricade, and act like someone who was raised in a civil home and taught manners will get you everything. I included my pictures with 1D below!

Today marks One Direction’s first ever visit to Z100 in New York! This afternoon the guys arrived around 1:30pm to a crowd of waiting fans for their live chat and performance, and on their way in they took a few minutes to wave hi to fans from inside the garage. Unfortunately the crowds have been a little unruly so they haven’t been able to do much stopping to take pictures and sign autographs, but that is no one’s fault other than the fans themselves.
Note: If you are a fan trying to see One Direction in New York this weekend, calm down. Seriously. Moving barricades, blocking sidewalks, ignoring doormen and security, knocking on van windows, shoving other fans, and all other unruly activities do nothing but ruin it for EVERYONE – including you. So calm down. Listen to security. Because if everyone just behaves the guys will be able to stop and you might actually get the chance to meet them and not just see them from a distance because you and your friends were acting like psychos on the street.
So, today was the day. The day I have been waiting for since God knows when. I finally, finally, finally got to see mega uber hot super awesome British-Irish boy band loves of my life One Direction up close and in person. I wish that I had a more spectacular way of talking about what happened this afternoon… but I am still so mesmerized and floating on air about all of it that I don’t even know where to start or how to go about it. It was beautiful. It was just absolutely beautiful.
I was the first fan waiting at the ‘Big Time Movie‘ premiere today and it was well, well worth it. I’m not going to lie to you – I didn’t even see the guys from Big Time Rush. I know that it was their movie premiere and everything, but once I knew One Direction was going to be there I had 125% tunnel vision.
We had been waiting for a little over four hours by the time the red carpet started and the first people to arrive were none other than One Direction. Their van pulled too far up and they ended up getting let out right in front of the fan barricade which was AMAZING. I didn’t know what to do and I remember running up to the barricade and watching them get out, and then when they started stopping for pictures I approached them and ended up getting a picture with Zayn. I didn’t know that my camera was zoomed so it’s a really, really close cropped picture but I DON’T CARE. In the video you can also see Liam waving (and winking!!!) at me when I call his name, and since he’s my favorite I am one happy girl right now.
I have a wristband for their signing on Monday at J&R so expect lots more 1D posts in the next few days!

So my buddy Chelsea and a couple of her friends took a trip up to Albany to see One Direction this week, and they also got the chance to meet the guys while they were leaving their hotel.
This is quite possibly the best fan video I have seen yet based solely on her excitement and the short but epic interactions she has with the guys.
Oh my God. The time has come. One Direction are back in America and this time they are here to stay. (Erm, at least for like, a month.)
The fab five boys arrived at Chicago O’Hare’s Airport to a gaggle of teenage girls squealing in delight over being in their presence. It looks like the boys did a lot of shunning, but after the insanity that was their arrival at LAX a few weeks ago I imagine they were trying to to accommodate the airport and security more than their fans – which no one can be mad at them for. I also love that they got right on a tour bus. What’s a girl gotta do to play some Xbox on the American road with these lads?
Their first American show is tomorrow night in Chicago opening for Big Time Rush, then they are off to Detroit, Toronto, and… New York.
I cannot be held accountable for the shameful amount of time I will spend in their presence. Temporary insanity, I’ll say.
I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who has read PFG since it’s first post in August – even if you’ve only been here once you’ve helped motivate me to keep going out (even in the cold!) so I have new and exciting posts for you as often as possible! Thanks to PFG I was able to take on some pretty cool things in the last half of 2011, so I think 2012 is looking VERY promising.
Some things to look forward to? Awards season (first up after the holidays!), THE HUNGER GAMES (!!!!!), One Direction‘s first American tour opening for Big Time Rush (can. not. wait.), Darren Criss on Broadway followed by Nick Jonas, the final Twilight movie (SOB.), The Avengers… so many other epic movies coming in 2012 it’s not even funny.
I look forward to sharing all of the excitement with you!
Alright. Let me preface this. I have been trying to resist the One Direction thing for quite some time. It started with my friend Ilana during Hurricane Irene… she played the “What Makes You Beautiful” video every hour, on the hour, like clockwork while we spent 48 hours trapped in my apartment. By the time she left I was obsessed with the song but trying hard to ignore it. And then my roommate Carly caught it from Ilana, and next thing I know Ilana didn’t need to be present for Carly to be playing YouTube videos and showing me pictures and playing new songs… And then one day, one Sunday morning I will never forget, I woke up and did my own YouTube searches. For absolutely no reason. It just happened, like fate or something, and I was sitting there watching all of their solo auditions and their performances and how X-Factor grouped them up and next thing you know BAM! I’m running downstairs to talk to Carly about it with tears streaming down my face because I was legit so proud and meanwhile I had watched their like year of success in approximately 20 minutes. Then I took a breath, shrugged it off, and tried to fight it again.
Now it’s not just Ilana and Carly. Now it’s also Brian, and June, and suddenly we were all singing “What Makes You Beautiful” at the top of our lungs at Brian’s Halloween party, and there are pictures of Zayn on our fridge, and I’m helping Carly find Bop in three different drug stores (CVS, Walgreens, & Duane Reade)….
I put up a really good fight. Usually I’m pretty easy to convert, but this one has been tough. And I fought tooth and nail up until about 30 minutes ago when Daniella tweeted the link to the their new video for “Gotta Be You” and I quite literally screamed at my computer when it told me it wasn’t available in my country. There was no going back from that.
I ACCEPT YOU, ONE DIRECTION. You have sunk your cute, British, tween nails into my heart and I can’t fight you off any more. Dreamy sigh!
